Petaluma Adobe
Rancho Petaluma Adobe

Rancho Petaluma was General Vallejo's main agricultural operation in the Mexican Province of California from 1834 to 1846. Vallejo ran his cattle, hide and tallow business, raised sheep, bred horses, and grew numerous crops. The adobe contains authentic furniture and exhibits depicting early rancho life.

Sonoma Mission
Mission San Francisco Solano

Built in 1823, the Mission is the last (and most northern) of the twenty-one Franciscan Missions of Alta California and the only one built under Mexican rule. It operated from 1823 to 1833 when it was secularized by Gen. Mariano Vallejo under direction of the Mexican government.

Vallejo's Home
Lachryma Montis "Tears of the Mountain"  General Vallejo's Home

Built about 1850, this Carpenter-Gothic style home was Vallejo's retirement home.  It stood among grapevines at the foot of the hill with a chalet, guest accommodations, a detached kitchen and a reservoir. Preserved for posterity by its first curator, General Vallejo's  youngest daughter, Maria Vallejo Cutter, it was deeded to the California State Parks in 1933.

Servants Quarters
El Cuartel de Sonoma (Sonoma Barracks)

The Barracks was built by Gen. Mariano Vallejo from 1834-1837 for his troops to guard the "Northern Frontier" as the Mission was secularized and the pueblo of Sonoma was being established.

The Toscano Hotel and Kitchen

While the building was erected about 1852, the Toscano Hotel operated as a workingman's hotel, and later a family resort, from 1886 to 1955. The kitchen and dining room was built around 1902 for the expanding business and the "annex" (the blue buildings west of the kitchen) was acquired. Decorated ala 1890, the museum is a step back in time to the days when Sonoma was establishing itself as a viable town and destination spot.
